CitéDanse,
Another idea of the contemporary dance

THE COLLECTIVE

Since its founding in 1999, CitéDanse has developed an original approach to contemporary dance, placing the audience in the heart of the artistic process within creation, research and training.

CitéDanse fulfils the following objectives:

The collective
Who are we?

> Three leading choreographic companies in the heart of CitéDanse

The collective CitéDanse was founded in 1999 by choreographers Anne-Marie Pascoli, François Veyrunes and Sylvie Guillermin, who left the collective in 2002.
Artistic Directors Cathy Cambet, Anne-Marie Pascoli, François Veyrunes have been running independent dance companies in Grenoble for more than 15 years. They are the three leaders of the CitéDanse collective. Their companies are the nucleus of CitéDanse and are dedicated to refreshing the artistic and cultural lives of artists and audiences on local, regional and international levels.
The three companies operate independently, with their own separate programmes and activities. They are united, however, by strong artistic vision and by their involvement in their community and locality. These commitments enrich CitéDanse.

> Associate members coming from several backgrounds

Since its inception, CitéDanse has endeavoured to enlarge its reflexive and working cell with active members: associate artists (Minou Wozniak - director, Lionel Palun – film maker), dancers, psychologist, sociologist, philosopher, teacher… They all collaborate on the completion of projects focussed on choreographic development.

> A functioning with variable-geometry

The CitéDanse collective balances its programme according to the needs and capabilities of its members, permitting a responsive and flexible supportive environment within the topics and events. Each member of CitéDanse involves themselves in the work as a volunteer. Therefore CitéDanse is a place for artistic ideas and exchanges enriched by each of its members.

Research and Creation

Since its beginning, CitéDanse has supported the presentation and demystification of the various stages that make up the artistic process; work in progress, experimentation, improvisation…
This method permits ongoing dialogue throughout the creative process, providing networking opportunities between artists as well as exchanges and interactions between audience and artists.
